In this series of figurative watercolors, I explore the permeable boundary between the human and the more-than-human, rendered through the subtle interplay of flesh, flora, and the fluidity of pigment. Each figure, whether she is aloft in tranquil waters, crowned by greenery, or entwined with botanical tendrils, exists in a state of becoming, poised between reality and the dreamlike.
Inspired by both yogic philosophy and panpsychism, I view consciousness not as a byproduct of form, but as the primordial dimension that informs all material manifestations. These paintings reflect that belief: matter, here, the delicate wash of watercolor, does not merely embody form but is formed within consciousness. Each watery layer, each translucent bloom, becomes an extension of awareness itself, giving shape to the inexpressible.
In Seduction, for instance, a figure drifts immersed in gentle blue currents, her gaze lifted toward a hovering, luminous creature. An orchid perches atop her head, an emblem of nature’s beauty and her connection to its subtle mysteries—while the creature, blurred and shimmering, feels like a cipher from the unconscious. Together, they evoke a moment of silent communion, a dialogue that speaks to transformation, wonder, and the whisper of the unseen.
Similarly, Lenore in Her Garden blurs boundaries: vines and botanical forms merge seamlessly with the human visage, creating a hybrid being that is neither solely plant nor purely human, but both. Through such images, I question rigid separations, between human and nature, control and emergence, intention and spontaneous growth.
Watercolor is uniquely suited to convey these themes. Its transparency, unpredictability, and capacity for layered nuance reflect the same dynamic tension I depict. Like consciousness itself, watercolor resists tight control even as it can be guided. In embracing this fluid medium, I lean into both intention and surrender, letting color bloom, bleed, and whisper its own emotive presence upon the page.

In these abstract watercolors, I channel the fundamental interplay between consciousness and form through the poetic medium of pigment and water. The translucent washes, delicate linework, and layered textures embody the principle that consciousness precedes matter, shaping fluid materiality into conscious experience.
Drawing from yogic philosophy and panpsychism, I view these paintings not as inert compositions but as living dialogues, fluid surfaces that breathe awareness into shape, light, and color. In this light, light itself becomes an emergent property, not of paint alone, but of the consciousness that subtly guides its diffusion across paper.
The watercolors reveal an essential tension: between the deliberate strokes of the artist and the spontaneous wanderings of pigment and water. This negotiation mirrors humanity’s struggle to woo natural systems into patterns of control while simultaneously resisting that containment. Each brushstroke—planned or surrendered, becomes an allegory for our attempts to manage, exploit, or harmonize with Earth’s rhythms.
The evocative color palettes, sunset oranges fading into pastel skies, bursts of bright turquoise and cooling greys, invoke moments of natural transition: the forest floor giving way to sky, midday sunlight softened by dusk. In "Papilla", warm vitality ripples into tranquil blues and grays, capturing both vitality and calm.
Yet, it is not control alone that defines these works, but the humility to let go. I invite the pigment to mingle, to spill, to surprise. In allowing unpredictability, I honor nature’s intelligence, the same that we so often attempt to master. Consciousness, here, is the medium and the message: the silent force through which chaos coalesces into form, life, and meaning.
These watercolors are thus meditations on co-creation, on how form emerges where intent meets receptivity. They serve as visual reflections on the possibility of a harmonious stewardship, where we align our creative impulses with the deeper currents of consciousness that shape the material realm.
